Susan Onaitis is a corporate sales trainer, speaker, and author with extensive experience in sales, sales management, and sales training. After a successful 16-year career with Avon Products and the Knoll division of Westinghouse, she founded Global Learning Link. Headquartered in New York City and serving clients around the world since 1996, Global Learning Link helps corporations improve the performance of their sales and management people.

With an MEd. in Training and Development, Onaitis offers the unique combination of frontline sales experience and educational background in instructional design/adult learning. She has designed and conducted sales and management training all over the world for a wide range of clients including Colgate Palmolive, Estee Lauder, Prudential, Baccarat, and Standard & Poor's. She is also a dynamic speaker who has presented to organizations such as The Jewelry Couture & Collection Conference, The American Society of Journalists and Authors and the American Society for Training and Development on a variety of sales and management related topics.


In her book, "Negotiate Like the Big Guys" published by Silverlake Publishing, Onaitis offers ideas on how to level the playing field when you are or feel like the "little guy." Because she has negotiated on both sides of the table, first during her corporate career and now as a successful business owner, she is uniquely qualified to give readers the tools for equalizing any advantages that your opponent might have over you. Her booklet "Secrets of Effective Negotiating" offers quick tips and suggestions on how to negotiate the best possible deal and still maintain positive relationships.

Onaitis is also a contributing author to �The Essential Guide to Training Global Audiences� (2008, John Wiley & Sons Publishing) and �Fortify You Sales Force: Leading and Training Exceptional Teams� (2010, John Wiley & Sons Publishing).

A former journalist, her articles on sales, negotiating and customer service have appeared in Selling, Sales Solutions, Sales & Marketing Training, Jewelry Quarterly, and SMT Trainer Talk.

Onaitis has done numerous TV and radio interviews including Fox News, WCBS, Bloomberg TV, Radio America, Sales Rep Radio, and the nationally-syndicated "Let's Talk Business" radio show. She is frequently quoted in print and online media as a negotiating expert and her interviews have appeared in INC magazine, Cosmopolitan, Sales and Marketing Management, The Los Angeles Times, SOHO Today, CIO magazine, and Bankrate.com.

Education & Affiliations

Onaitis earned an undergraduate degree in Journalism and her Masters degree from Xavier University in Ohio. She is an adjunct Professor since 2004 at New York University teaching a variety of courses in the Marketing program and the Learning and Development Certificate program. Onaitis is a member of The Board of Directors of the Professional Society for Sales & Marketing Training (SMT) and was awarded that organization's highest honor, "The President's Award," for professional contributions. She is also an active member of The New York Business Connection and Women as Mentors. In 2004, she was one of 12 national finalists for the American Business Awards "Sales Trainer of the Year". She is especially enthusiastic about her pro bono work since 1998 for the nonprofit organization, Dress for Success, which provides interview-ready clothing and job retention programs for underprivileged women.
